Low Carbon Bulletin - Jun 10

The SURegen team was recently invited to write a board report for the June 2010 issue of the Low Carbon Bulletin. Taking a look at sustainability indicators from a slightly more commercial perspective, the Low Carbon Bulletin for June 2010 is available via the Low Carbon Innovation Network now.

Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Annual Conference and Exhibition - Jun 10

SURegen representatives took part in the The Chartered Institute of Housing's Annual Conference and Exhibition in Harrogate between 22-24 June 2010. The exhibition is the largest housing event in the UK and Europe's largest housing exhibition, attracting c. 6,500 visitors each year.

BURA (British Urban Regeneration Association) Newsletter - Dec 09

The British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) electronic newsletter for December 2009 has just been published. The edition this month includes an article about the latest workbench developments and exciting news about the new prototype.

Sustainable Neighbourhoods Discussion at Low Carbon Best Practice Exchange - Dec 2009

A discussion about achieving sustainability in neighbourhoods will be facilitated by Andy Hamilton, Technical Director for SURegen, at the Low Carbon Best Practice Exchange conference in Harrogate on 3rd December 2009. Whilst the key issue is about making dwellings low carbon; social and economic issues are also important to residents. Better quality of life can be the appeal of a low carbon lifestyle and this will be discussed. The session will begin with an introduction to SURegen, including a look at some of the case studies emanating from the project which have contributed to workbench development.

Northern Regeneration Summit - Oct 2009

SURegen representatives were on-hand to answer questions about the project at the Northern Regeneration Summit 2009, which took place on 20 & 21 October 2009 at the The City Of Manchester Stadium.

SURegen was recently publicised in RISE (Research Innovation and internationaliSation nEws), a new University of Salford publication which features the latest stories relating to the University's research and innovation activities.

Regeneration & Renewal's National Conference 2009 - Mar ⁄ Apr09

SURegen representatives met exhibition visitors to Regeneration & Renewal's National Conference, held at Birmingham NEC on 31st March & 1st April 2009. The conference looked at methods for laying the foundations of recovery in the difficult economic climate.

Northern Regeneration Summit - Oct08

SURegen representatives attended the Northern Regeneration Summit 2008, which took place between 22nd and 23rd October 2008 at Manchester Central Complex (Formerly GMEX) as an exhibitor to promote the project.

Launch of £3m project that could re-shape regeneration - Jul08

SURegen partners held an official public launch at The Northern Urban Regeneration Exhibition and Conference (NUREC 2008) in Liverpool, on Monday 28th July 2008. Speaking at NUREC, sustainable urban development expert Professor Steve Curwell explained that the project asked why progress in regeneration had been "so painfully slow".

The aim of the 4-year project is to produce a web-based system that will offer a bank of online information to organisations about to embark on regeneration. Professor Curwell said of the project: "It will help decision makers in urban regeneration programmes to collaborate more effectively and to learn key lessons from past mistakes by using case studies of best practice."

Salford University was chosen by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to lead the project, awarding £2.5m-worth of funding from its £38m Sustainable Urban Environment (SUE) research programme. Industrial partners have contributed an additional £0.5m.

RTPI Planning Convention - Jul08

SURegen representatives were available to answer visitors questions about the project on the University of Salford stand at the Royal Town and Planning Institute (RTPI) Planning Convention, held at the QEII Conference Centre, London on 09 - 11 July 2008.

CIH Housing Conference - Jun08

SURegen representatives took part in the exhibition at the Chartered Institute of Housing's (CIH) Annual Conference, held in Harrogate on 17th - 19th June 2008. This event is believed to be the largest housing event in the UK and Europe's largest housing exhibition, annually attended by circa 6,500 people.
